Cavers from across Bulgaria met recently to found a new national caving organization, the Bulgarian Caving Society (BSC).

The historic meeting took place at the Krastets Hut in the Central Balkan Mountains on March 28th and involved 26 people from different areas of Bulgaria, including Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Dryanovo, Etropole, Rakitovo, Ruse, Sofia, Tryavna, Targovishte, Chepelare, Red Beach, who either represented themselves or regional caving organizations.

The founders approved the statute of the organization and elected Board of Directors, chaired by Geologist Kamen Bonev, and Supervisory Board with a 3-year term.

Based on collective (regional caving organization) and individual memberships, the new society’s primary objectives are the discovery, research and integrated study of karst and karst features, the protection of natural and artificial caves and other underground cavities, and conservation of listed assets.

The association will also work to promote the cave research, the caves, and the need for conservation and protection as part of our natural and cultural heritage.

The doors of the Bulgarian Caving Society are open to all Bulgarians as well as anyone else who shares in the organizations aims and objectives and would like to work towards their implementation.

For more information, visit the new Bulgarian Caving Society website which is in rapid development.

Congratulations Bulgaria!

    Cheers!

The new organization was born because we had to say goodbye finally to the old one – full of corruption and private interests, no cave explorations, nothing, just drinking in the bar and fake educational cave rescue parties. We had to say: STOP.

Dear colleagues, cavers, explorers – please do not rely ever on “Bulgarian Speleological Federation” and its “Emergency Rescue Team” – they are all fake and drunk.

Congratulations to the participants of the “historical” meeting in Krastets Hut!

It’s really funny in a country with not more than 300 cavers to found a new caving society…but like everywhere in the caving world the personal ambitions are prevailing. You know.:)

The Bulgarian Federation of Speleology is between the oldest in Europe – since 1929.

Best regards to the new Bulgarian formation and best wishes!

Cheers to all fake and drunk cavers!

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. Konstantin Kostov

(“fake and drunk” co-autor of Shanov, S., K. Kostov, 2015. Dynamic Tectonics and Karst, Springer-Verlag, 123 p. and simple “fake and drunk” member of the Bulgarian Federation of Speleology and several geological associations outside this book.: )

Here (http://www.scribd.com/doc/46668994/9KHp25GbwFi) one can know more for the history of speleology and caving in Bulgaria so to undesrstend that Bulgarian Federation of Speleology is nor successor of Bulgarian Caving Society founded in 1929! THe born of new national caving society is based on the defferent kind of view and philosophies of two big groupes of cavers and speleological communites in the country!
It is very sad when somebody declare oneself as a member of caving organisation when he don’t belong to it.
