A fundraiser held just before Christmas garnered a generous donation for the Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation, and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team from locals who attended an event at the Wanted Inn in Sparrowpit in the England’s Peak District.

Locals who packed pub were the treated to an evening of food and fun. They sang carols accompanied by the Sparrowpit Brass Band, ate mince pies and played party games, all in the name of charity.

A few weeks later on January, 17th the organizations were each presented with a cheque for £125.00 (~$200.00 USD) during an informal presentation back at the pub.

“Local support like this is really appreciated by the rescue teams. It is good to know that our voluntary work is valued. Both rescue teams are always looking for cash to keep the services operational and together offer a huge thank you to Sheila, Steve and all the Sparrowpit community.” – Roger Bennett, Chairman of Buxton Mountain Rescue Team
