Symposium on Pseudokarst this Fall in Tui, Spain
This fall the 12th International Symposium on Pseudokarst kicks off in Spain.
Organized by the UIS Commission for Pseudokarst, Clube Espeleolóxico Maúxo and the Instituto Universitario de Xeoloxía “Isidro Parga Pondal”, University of A Coruña, the symposium will focus on the exploration and research of non-karst caves.
This years event features the tagline, “How old are pseudokarst: Dating caves and forms”, which is evident in it’s main themes that among others, include the classifications of pseudokarst, development and dating of caves and speleothems in pseudokarst, and the scientific value and heritage of pseudokarst.
Held in the village of Tui near the west coast of Spain, the main symposium runs from September 11th to 14th, 2012, with pre and post symposium occurring, which include field trips to visit Sea caves and related paleolevels in Illas Atlánticas de Galicia Sea-Land National Park, Tafoni and the archaeological granite caves located in the south side of the Vigo Ría, and the granite, caves and archaeological shelters in Castelo da Furna, Valença, Portugal.
