Video: Digging Ice Age Bones at Indiana Caverns

February 3, 2015 / Indiana, United States, North America

Indiana Caverns is not just about tourism. In a video recently uploaded to Facebook, Ron Richards, Senior Curator of Paleobiology at the Indiana State Museum, talks of the ongoing scientific dig.

The short video shows excavation of the remains of an extinct Flat-headed peccary (Platygonus compressus), an ancient pig-like animal.

Located just outside of Corydon, Indiana Caverns opened in 2013 to great fanfare.
