In celebration of the return of the Myotis velifer bat colony to Arizona’s Kartchner Caverns, the state park will be holding Bat Day on April 13th.

The event, a celebration of all things bat related, includes presentations in the theater by visiting bat experts, plus children’s activities throughout the day.

Presentations kick off at 11:00 am with a talk on the Columnar cactus-nectar bat connection by Ted Fleming. It is then followed by Sarah Kirk presenting the “Bats of Arizona” at noon, and “Bat Specimens from the University of Arizona Mammal Collection” by Yar Petryszyn at 1:30 pm. Finally, Ronnie Sidner presents a talk titled the “Bats of Kartchner Caverns” at 2:30 pm.
