Teenager Rescued From Iowa’s Maquoketa Caves State Park
A teenager is recovering after a nasty fall over the weekend at Iowa’s Maquoketa Caves State Park.
KWQC reports that the girl, a track star at Pleasant Valley High School in nearby Bettendorf, was hiking on an unmarked trail on Saturday June 20, when she slipped and fell 6 to 9 meter (20 to 30 feet).
Suffering suspected damaged vertebrae, she was rescued with help from the fire department and was taken to a hospital in Maquoketa.
Later she was transferred to an Iowa City hospital where she is expected to recover.
