A bill to reduce the liability of cave owners has unanimously passed in West Virginia.

The House Finance Committee on Natural Resources passed the bill that will treat caving the same as any other recreational activity like as swimming or running. This alleviates the liability concerns of landowners who have folks caving on their property.

With the NSS convention occurring in West Virginia later this year, the bill is especially relevant.

“It helps the economy of West Virginia, and it protects the property owners where those caves are located, which will make it easier for those people to access West Virginia and make it a lot easier for them to take part in wild, wonderful West Virginia.” – Joe Talbott, Natural Resources Committee Chair
