A team of six European cavers will pay a visit to Tanzania’s mount Kilimanjaro this September on an expedition to survey and map lava tubes on the northern slope of the Africa’s largest mountain.

The group, which includes three Dutch cavers, one Belgian cave, a single Slovenian caver and a solitary caver from the UK, will be gone on the month-long trip from September 15th until October 15th, 2011.

This is the first time that any official caving related research will done on the 5,895 meter (19,341) foot mountain.
