Bronze Age Cave Use Presentation to be Held in Ireland
Learn about the Bronze Age ritual use of caves in Ireland’s Burren region at a presentation in Ireland’s County Clare next Tuesday, June 2nd.
The event, the first lecture in the Irish Fieldschool of Prehistoric Archaeology summer lecture series, features Dr. Marion Dowd of Institute of Technology, Sligo with his presentation entitled “Seeking Darkness: The Bronze Age Ritual Use of Caves in the Burren.”
Dowd, an archaeologist whose research has primarily focuses on caves, will discuss how caves in Ireland have been used and perceived as places of burial, excarnation, veneration, occupation, refuge and hideaway.
The presentation starts at 7:00pm in St. Patrick’s hall, Corofin, County Clare.
