As part of a land swap deal between the city of Hamilton and the Hamilton Conservation Authority, the Eramosa Karst Conservation Area has gained an additional access point.

The Hamilton Spectator reports that the city council approved the swap of the Griffin House National Historic Site for a small 0.49 acre tract of land next to the Eramosa Karst Conservation Area this past Wednesday.

The new land will provide an entrance way via Highland Rd. West.

Considered to be the best example of karst topography found in Ontario, the 78 hectare Eramosa Karst Conservation Area features include sinkholes, vertical shafts, springs, disappearing streams and the 335-metre (1100 foot) long Nexus cave.
