National Guard Training Exercise Held at Wind Cave National Park

South Dakota National Guard‘s 82nd Civil Support Team were at Wind Cave National Park this week as part of a training exercise.

Their scenario involved responding to a potential threat, either biological, chemical, or nuclear, from a vehicle parked in the lower housing area of the park.

Based at nearby Ellsworth Air Force Base, the 82nd CST is one of 57 such teams across the United States who are trained to support the local civil authorities during terrorist attacks or during natural or manmade disasters involving catastrophic loss of life or property.
