Bluegrass Underground Releases Season 5 Lineup
Some of the biggest names in bluegrass and roots are scheduled for the upcoming season of Bluegrass Underground, filming for PBS from March 27th to 29th, 2015.
The much-anticipated subterranean event takes place 333 feet (101 meters) below the surface in the natural amphitheater of Tennessee’s Cumberland Caverns’ Volcano Room. Known for its astonishing acoustics, the unique venue allows performances to be completely un-amplified, similar to seeing a live concert inside a recording studio.
The filming kicks off on Friday, March 27th with 16-time Grammy-winner Bela Fleck and his wife and musical partner Abigail Washburn and their acclaimed all-banjo duo. The evening continues with performances by Hot Rize, Robert Earl Keen and
Chatham County Line.
Next up on March 28th are the The Earls of Leicester, the all-star, dead-on tribute to Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs and the Foggy Mountain Boys, which is presented by 13-time Grammy winner Jerry Douglas. Following the The Earls are fellow Grammy-winner Lee Ann Womack, Amos Lee and The Quebe Sisters.
Finally, March 29th features two of the biggest jamgrass bands of all time, Leftover Salmon and Railroad Earth, as well as rising progressive band Greensky Bluegrass.
Tickets go on sale this Saturday, January 24th and are expected to go fast.
