This weekend the filming of the second season of the PBS Series Bluegrass Underground will kick off.

Recorded 101 meters (333 feet) below ground inside Cumberland Caverns in McMinnville, Tennessee, the concerts will feature an array of artists including Vince Gill, The Civil Wars, The Del McCoury Band, Jerry Douglas, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Jim Lauderdale, The Time Jumpers, Scott Miller, The Black Lillies, Sarah Jarosz, The David Mayfield Parade and The Vespers.

Within the 32 miles long cave, a natural amphitheatre called The Volcano Room, is known for its astonishing acoustics. So impressive, they actually allow for performances to be completely un-amplified, similar to seeing a live concert inside a recording studio.

The whole event will be recorded in 1080i high definition and 5.1 surround sound.
