Video Pays Tribute to the Efforts to Rescue Spanish Caver
Spanish cave rescuers recently flew to Peru to rescue fellow Spaniard Cecilio Lopez-Tercero, who spent 12 days trapped underground in a Peru’s Inti Machay cave.
An experienced caver and cave rescuer, Lopez-Tercero became trapped on September 18, 2014 after a 4.5 meter (fifteen foot) fall some 400 meters (1,300 feet) underground broke two vertebrae in his back.
In response to the incident more than 40 Spanish cavers traveled to the remote region of Huriaca, 1,200 kilometers from Lima, Peru, to aid in the rescue.
