The Boston Grotto with strong assistance from the Berkshire Cavers & Diggers, will be putting on the 2013 Spring NRO in May.

Held at Camp St. Michael in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, home of Great Radium Springs Cave, the three-day event runs from May 17th to 19th. It promises attendees a “hootin’ awesome, rollicking great time chock full o’ mud n’ caves n’ eats n’ auctions n’ people n’ music n’ more.”

Caving trips to new/recently opened area caves are in the works, as are other trips such as the Race Brook Falls multi-drop “cayoneering” rappel. In addition, a vertical ropes course and squeeze box will be available on Saturday afternoon, while the evening will feature an auction hosted by NiceBob and music by caver band, Beware the Dangers of a Ghost Scorpion.

The event winds up on Sunday with a fundraiser for Schoharie County Flood Relief that challenges cavers to traverse the Great Radium Spring Cave with only the light of your candle to find the way.

Anyone interested in attending this exciting weekend is encouraged to pre-register to better give the organizers an idea of how many folks to expect.
