Petzl's Tips for Protecting Your Equipment

In order to help you prolong the life of your important caving gear, Petzl recently released an informative PDF.

Titled, “Tips for protecting your equipment“, the 22 page document outlines all the dos and don’ts of caring for your gear to help avoid premature wear.

Suggestions such as keeping your helmets free of stickers, and not to use a pressure washer on gear are some interesting tidbits that make the document a worthwhile read.

Unfortunately for folks in North America it seems like many of the recommendations are not compatible with the latest WNS decontamination protocols. For example, the maximum temperature recommended for washing gear is 30C (86F), well below the 50C (122F) needed to decontaminate it.
