Mendip Cave Rescue Celebrates 75 Years

Mendip Cave Rescue 75th Celebration DayIn celebration of their 75th anniversary, the Mendip Cave Rescue is holding a day of cave rescue related activities and displays followed by a social evening on Saturday, November 19th.

The event to celebrate the second oldest cave rescue organization in the world will begin on the Friday evening at Hunter’s Lodge where rescue related videos and clips will be shown.

The main event on Saturday is centered around the Priddy Village Hall and will feature rescue workshops including above and below ground practice, displays and videos, as well as a Speleo Olympics ‘Rescue Challenge’. The evening will conclude with a talk on the Mendip Cave Rescue, an auction of caving related objects, and the presentation of the 2011 JRat Digging Award followed by a caver stomp.

Cavers and non-cavers alike are invited to come and join in the festivities. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
