Missing Caver in Indiana’s Harrison-Crawford State Forest
A 25-year-old caver is presumed lost somewhere, possibly in a cave in Indiana’s Harrison-Crawford State Forest.
Kevin Eve of Georgetown, Indiana has been missing since Sunday. His car was located on Monday, parked along a remote road in Crawford County near the Harrison Crawford State Forest.
Volunteer firefighters, friends and family have searched the miles of heavily wooded forest. The large search area, that covers two counties, coupled with the fact that Eve didn’t tell anyone where he was going, has made for a challenging search.
A cave team was brought in on Tuesday by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to search the park’s caves. The problem is that there are only a few caves that have documented GPS coordinates, and no one is quite sure where exactly the rest are all located.
If you have any information, please call the Indiana Department of Natural Resources at 812-685-2498.

Missing Caver is not an accurate description here, a caver would never go out alone, leaving no info with anyone, so “spelunker”/aka “tourist” would fit perfectly in this scenario. Though, hopefully his dumb ass turns up safely or he is located and extracted in one still-breathing mass by the cavers who are assisting in the search.
It has been reported that his caving gear was left at home so he could have been “ridgewalking” (prospecting for new caves to explore later) and may have fallen into an unknown pit.
This “dumbass” is a close friend of mine. It has not been confirmed that he went into a cave. They have searched most of the caves in the area and have found no sign of him. This is an extremely large area of rough terrain. A very difficult search. Kevin is an avid “spelunker” or “caver” or whatever you want to call it, who never went caving alone. His friends and family are worried sick. Show some respect.
Does anyone have any updated info on this search?
According to some folks at Cavechat.org, the official search is winding down.

They have not found anything and have limited the search to just a few officers and volunteers daily. The has been little to no evidence turn up and they are at a loss. It’s not looking good…
Saw that they were wanting more volunteers to look for Kevin, but couldn’t find anything on who to contact, where to meet, or anything. Does anyone have volunteer information?
They are in desperate need of more cavers that know the area. There are only a few out there searching, and there are so many caves in the area that even the Department of Natural Resources don’t know about. If you or anyone else are cavers, and can assist in the search even if only for a short time, please call the Indiana Conservation Officers at: 812-837-9536. If they do not respond, or do not accept your offers to help, please post on here, so we are aware.
Here is a link to a map with a couple of places to meet up with other volunteers. http://i780.photobucket.com/albums/yy81/saralee1209/Kevin%20Eve%20-%20Missing%2010-1-11/GoogleMaps-Kevin2.jpg
Is it possible that he met with someone while up there? Anyway to pull cell phone records from his cell number to see if something might add up? People just don’t end up missing as if they got sucked up from a space ship or something. Somethings gotta be starring the officials right in the face!!
My husband and son are there today to search caves. Please pray for safety.
This is to Ken…. That Dumbass was a very smart person! Kevin worked for me when he was in high school. It is possible that either A. He fell in a unmarked cave or Someone got hold of him and took him from the area.
Kevin was a great guy.
what about wild animals? do they have bears or cougars down there?
