Successful Cave Kids Program Offered Again

September 21, 2011 / New Zealand, Oceania

After a successful first season, Cave Kids returns this October, once again giving the children of New Zealand the opportunity to try caving.

The three-hour long educational adventure, geared for children between 5 and 12 years old, is held at Ruakuri Cave. It starts with a warm-up of cave-themed activities before heading into the cave on a 1.5km guided tour while decked out in helmets and lights.

While exploring by candle and torch light, kids get to learn about caves and their formations. They’ll even get an opportunity to go off trail to search for fossils, bones, and buried treasure.

Running from October 8th to 24th during school holidays, tours will occur twice each day, at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.

Due to popularity and limited availability, bookings must be made 24 hours in advance.
