Free Tours at Oregon Caves National Monument on Saturday
This Saturday May 7th, the Oregon Caves National Monument is hosting it’s annual community day. As part of the event, free cave tours, nature walks and tours of the Oregon Caves Chateau will be available between 10:00am and 4:00pm. To take part in the tours it is requested that you “bring a can of food to donate to the local food bank.”
Explore the caves, bend and squeeze through narrow marble passageways, and imagine what Elijah Davidson and other early cavers discovered. The ranger tour guide will share stories about what modern scientific exploration is revealing about this dark and mysterious place.
For the first time year, visitors are requested not to bring any clothing, footwear or equipment that has been in any cave, mine or other bat hibernation east of the Rocky Mountains since 2005 or ever in Europe. These new rules have been put in place to help limit the spread of White-nose Syndrome.
All visitors should expect to have their clothing, footwear, and gear screened before entering the cave.
