Google Street View Adds Two Italian Show Caves

July 15, 2015 / Italy, Europe

The latest locations added to Google Street View‘s ever expanding list of sites are two of Italy’s most famous show caves.

Grotta del Vento and Grotte Di Frasassi are featured using the same stunning 360-degree technology that we’ve seen in other caves such as Carlsbad Caverns National Park and Japan’s Akiyoshi-do Cavern.

Located in Tuscany, the 4.5 kilometer (2.8 mile) long Grotta del Vento or Wind Cave was photographed in February 2015. It was first discovered in 1898 by young children.

Meanwhile, the much more recently discovered (1971) Grotte Di Frasassi was captured earlier this month. Located in the Marche region, it has been explored to 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) in length.

This brings a whole new meaning to arm-chair caver.
