One of Waynesville’s oldest homes is opening its doors to cavers during the 2015 National Speleological Society Convention.

Built in 1885, the Talbot House has seen its fair share of tragedies. The original owner Reverend Albert Washington Davis tragically died three years after it was built from injuries sustained while fighting a fire. Then, converted to a hotel, it is rumored that a witness to a high profile murder case chose to commit suicide in his rented room rather than go to the courthouse to testify during the trial.

Now operating as Talbot House Antiques, Collectables, & Gifts, it also opens after hours once a month for paranormal investigations guided by the Crocker Optimistic Paranormal Society.

During the NSS convention these investigations will be opened up for an additional three evenings; Tuesday July 14th, Wednesday July 15th and Thursday July 16th. Investigations for groups of ten will take place beginning at 8:30pm and lasting until approximately 11:00 pm.

Participants are encouraged to bring cameras, head lamps, audio recorders and/or video cameras to record the chilling experience.

Anyone interested must call and reserve a spot no later than June 30th.

To make your reservation contact Dawnmarie Cecora at 573-528-2149.
