Video: A Glimpse at South Wales’ Brickwork’s Dig
A video featuring the Brickwork’s Dig at Penwyllt, South Wales recently been uploaded to YouTube.
The footage, shot by Keith Edwards, shows the techniques and equipment used by these dedicated diggers to remove thousands of tons of spoil from the cave.
Started on the surface in 1986 by members of Dudley Caving Club, the Brickwork’s Dig has excavated approximately 48 meters (160 feet) of cave passage to a depth about 15 meters (50 feet) vertically below the entrance.
Contending with very wet conditions, the cave must be pumped out before every operation.
