Carlsbad Caverns’ First Interpretive Film Now In Production
A film shoot at New Mexico’s Carlsbad Caverns National Park will soon produce its first interpretive movie.
In early February, Aperture Films visited the park to shoot some in cave scenes for the upcoming 15 minute long film, which is due to be completed in early 2014.
During the shoot, specialists in cave lighting and film techniques were brought in. Vertical cavers were used for some shots and park staff and other volunteers appeared in the film as extras.
The crew was also out last summer filming the famous Brazilian free-tailed bats, as well as scenes of the plants and animals of the park’s Chihuahuan Desert.
This project has been a long time coming and we are pleased to be able to offer the public a high quality film that highlights not only what to see and do but also the science and exploration that continues to take place here. John Benjamin, Carlsbad Caverns National Park Superintendent
The film’s producer is Anne Tubiolo of Harpers Ferry Center.
