Cathedral Cave, Beyond the Show Cave
A video recently uploaded to YouTube offers viewers a chance to see the wild sections of Cathedral Cave that are beyond the publicly accessible show cave.
Part of the National Showcaves Centre for Wales, Cathedral Cave, also known as Tunnel Cave, was first opened in 1953 when cavers from the South Wales Caving Club broke through a boulder choke. The impressive chamber they entered, now the show cave, is however, only a small section of the over two kilometer (1.2 mile) long cave.
Filled with insightful commentary and beautiful shots, this video far exceeds the “Explore the cave” flash tour on the National Showcaves Centre for Wales website.
