March 16, 2011

A new book has recently been released to help bring awareness to the longest underwater gypsum cave in the world. Orda cave, located in the Perm region of Russia is 4.5 km long, with nearly all of it (4.2km) being under water.

Orda Cave Awarness ProjectTaking all the photos for the book was quite a challenge. In order to get all the photos, teams of cave divers from different Russian cities worked together over 6 months, making around 150 dives.

Besides photos the book contains articles by scientists and cavers detailing the history and origins of the cave, its discovery and personal accounts from cave divers.

The 160 page book is presented in full color in both English and Russian. For more information or to order a copy visit the Orda Cave Awareness Project.
